Power grapple in Rajasthan cricket has seen some dramatic twists and turns in the last two years. Nine months ago, BJP leader and RCA vice-president Amin Pathan served a no-confidence motion against Modi and his faction. At that time Pathan was serving as the ‘acting’ RCA president. He has now made a U-turn in front of a retired judge to pave the way for Modi’s return.
In an interview Pathan said that his action was in the interest of cricket in Rajasthan. But he has also hinted at political pressure. Reportedly, a understanding was reached between Pathan and Modi following which the latter proved its numerical superiority to retired judge Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra on Tuesday
Modi’s return will surely not amuse the BCCI. The Board led by former President N. Srinivasan had suspended Rajasthan for electing the banned Modi as its leader. Modi promptly went to court and continues to fight the BCCI.
