The Lakers forward will play against the Clippers on Thursday, Los Angeles announced.
Originally, James had been ruled out for the matchup, according to multiple reports.
He was upgraded to “doubtful” about three hours prior to game time before the Lakers confirmed his return.
James missed 17 games after straining his groin on Christmas Day against the Golden State Warriors. Los Angeles went 6-11 in his absence.
James is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 34.6 minutes per game this season.
The Lakers have fallen to 26-25 in his absence and sit in ninth place in the Western Conference standings.
