Morata sustained a knock in Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Macedonia around the hour mark and was replaced by Aritz Aduriz, who also started in place of the benched Morata against the Three Lions. Despite knowing the condition of the player Madrid claim that Spain and their manager should have never fielded an injured Morata against England for the last half hour of the game.
A statement from Real Madrid read the player has sustained a hamstring injury after multiple checks. The club statement on their official website read,
The injury, a grade 2 muscle injury in the hamstring takes roughly a couple of weeks to recover from, which could see Morata miss the massive Madrid derby against rivals Atletico this Saturday at the Vicente Calderon.
However, the Spanish international will be pleased to know that it was not a grade 3 muscle tear in the hamstring, that could have kept him out of action for months. If it was a grade 3 tear, then surgery would have been one of the options.
The RFEF (Spanish football federation) claims the player did not reveal or show any signs of fatigue or injury in the lead up to the game at Wembley against England. Going on to insist the player was a likely candidate to play and the governing body followed all necessary procedures to see if the player was fit and available, AS sources reported.

Real Madrid travel to the Vicente Calderon to take on bitter neighbours and rivals Atletico Madrid. With the El Classico also a fortnight away, Morata’s injury will be a massive blow for Zidane and Real as they look to push ahead in the race for the La Liga crown.
